Our Mission
Our mission is to provide high quality recreational gymnastics instruction to preschool and school aged children within our community, as well as maintain a high level, nationally competitive gymnastics team program.

8/8/2008 - Fall Schedule is now Available!

4/28/2008 - 2008 Summer Schedule
The Summer schedule is now available! Reminder: the gym will be closed June 2-7, with the summer hours beginning on June 9th.
 
4/15/2008 - Boys Region Championships
The boys teams travelled to Iowa City for Region 4 Championships last weekend.
Highlights include the Level 5 boys winning the open age division Team trophy - congratulations to Jake, Louie, Evan, Tyler, Bradley, George, Kulani, & Zach! Kulani Taylor placed 4th on vault, Louie Diner placed 3rd all-around, 2nd on floor, and 1st place on high bar with a 9.6, Jacob Mullan finished 7th on vault, Geporge Khoury placed 6th on floor, 7th on high bar, and 14th all-around, Bradley Krebsbach dominated his age group taking the gold on horse, rings, vault parallel bars, high bar, and the all-around. Great job level 5s!

The level 7s finished 7th in the team competition with Ben Winkel getting 7th on high bar and 18th in the all-around, Chris Jackson finishing 5th on floor, 4th on vault, 4th on high bar, and 8th all-around, and Alex Tovar placing 9th on the horse. Nice job 7s!

At the optional levels, Nick Mortari, level 8, placed 4th on floor, horse, rings, & vault, 2nd on parallel bars, and 5th on high bar and all-around. William Brower, level 9, finished 11th on rings. The level 10s placed 3rd in the team competiton - good job Scott, Nick, Ethan, Brock, Kalen, & Jesse! Scott VanderVeer placed 10th on horse and rings, Ethan Moravec finished 3rd on rings, Nick McHenry took 7th on horse and rings, 2nd on vault, 3rd on parallel bars, 4th on high bar, and 5th in the all-around, and Jesse Moravec placed 6th on horse and parallel bars, 3rd on high bar, 1st place on rings, and 4th in the all-around. Ethan qualified to Nationals as a ring specialist, while Nick and Jesse will represent Region 4 at Nationals on the Regional Team. Congratulations to all!!!
 
6/1/2007 - Congratulations class of '07!
Congratulations to Great Northern graduating seniors!
TRAVIS HEAVER from Sibley High School will attend the University of Minnesota and join the Golden Gopher Men's team
ARIEL LAMB from Eagan High has accepted an athletic scholarship for the T-Birds of Southern Utah State
JASMINE SWYNINGAN from Cretin Derham Hall has accepted an academic scholarship and will join the Iowa State Cyclones gymnastics squad.

4/28/2005 - Ariel Lamb qualifies to Level 10 Nationals
Ari will be heading to Ontario, California May 14-15 for her first trip to the Level 10 Nationals. Ari will represent the Region 4 team, earning the 7th spot in the All-Around with a 36.25. She also took home the bronze medal on the beam with a solid routine scoring a 9.35. GREAT JOB ARI!
 
4/11/2005 - Boys ROCK at Regionals
The boys level 8-10 team had an extremely strong showing at Regionals in Iowa City, April 8 & 9.
Highlights:

Brock Piller, level 8, won the first Regional All-Around title for Great Northern with a 46.45, winning the gold on parallel bars with an 8.75, and taking 3rd on the horse, rings, and high bar. This marks the end of a stellar season for Brock.

The Level 9s also had a strong meet in a highly competitive field. Ethan Moravec finished 25th in the All-Around, placing 10th on the rings with an 8.55, and 12th on the parallel bars with a very clean 8.55 routine. Micah Christensen finished 35th in the All-Around, earning the 7th place award on the rings with a strong 8.6. Both these boys achieved the qualifying score for their first trip to the National Championships!

The Level 10 guys brought home Great Northern's first ever REGION 4 TEAM TITLE! Travis Heaver finished 6th in the All-Around with a 44.95, placing 4th on the horse, rings, and vault, and 5th on the parallel bars. Jesse Moravec placed 5th in the All-Around with a 45.2, taking home the silver on the horse and 4th on parallel bars. Nick McHenry came back from his leg injury with a strong meet, placing 4th in the All-Around with a 45.3, placing 3rd on horse and high bar, and 4th on the rings. All three level 10s also qualified to represent the Region on the 6-member Regional Team at the National Championships in Houston, Texas in early May.

We are extrememly proud of all these boys and wish them the best of luck at Nationals!
 
4/4/2005 - Girls Level 7-10 State Results
Congratulations to Danielle Tschida who placed 18th in the Level 8 competition at the State Meet. Danielle also placed 8th on the beam with an 8.9.

Tierney Black placed 20th in the Level 9 All-Around with a 34.15, qualifying her on to the Regional Championships, and scoring a season high on beam with a 9.025.

Ariel Lamb, Level 10, placed 15th in the All-Around with a 34.175, also placing 7th on the beam with an 8.675. Ari will also be travelling to Milwaukee for the Regional Championships. Cangratulations, girls!
 
3/10/2005 - Boys State Meet Info
Great Northern is proud to be the host for the 2005 Boys State Championships, March 19 &20. The schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday, March 19
10:45am - Level 4 Competition
3:45pm - Level 5 Competition

Sunday, March 20
10:45am - Level 6&7 Competition
3:45pm - Levels 8-10 Competition

We will also be having University of Minnesota Head Coach Mike Burns and Gopher gymnasts performing exhibition routines following the competitions. Come on in and see some exceptional gymnastics!
 
1/30/2005 - Great Northern Boys Invitational
Great Northern hosted the 2nd Annual Boys Invitational, playing host to 220 boys and their families from 17 Minnesota clubs. The boys performed very well with Brock Piller winning the level 8 all-around, Jesse Moravec taking the level 9 all-around silver, and Travis Heaver placing second in the all around at level 10. Great Northern also won it's very first Team trophy with the level 5s taking second place in the ages 7-10 division. Congratulations to Matt Foman, Kory Peterson, Luke Shewchuk, and coach Ron Hill.

Great Northern would like to thank all the gymnasts, parents, and staff who helped make the 2nd Annual Boys Invitational a HUGE SUCCESS!
 
9/27/2004 - Season Premiere Invitational
Great Northern hosted our second annual girl's Level 5 and 6 Invitational, and it was a HUGE success! Over 300 girls and their families from 20 clubs attended this year's event. We would like to thank all the team parents and kids, family, and friends for helping the weekend fun and exciting for all!
 
2/16/2004 - Great Northern Boys Invitational
We hosted our first boys meet last weekend, and had a great event! Over 200 boys from 17 clubs and 800 spectators attended the competitions. National technical committee member, former NCAA champion, multiple Big Ten Champion, National Team member, and alternate to the 1984 Olympic team Brian Meeker presided over the opening ceremonies, with great renditions of our national anthem by our own Tierney Black singing, and Micah Christensen on the violin. We also were pleased to have members of Circus Juventas, the only circus performing arts school in Minnesota, perform hand balancing and spanish web acts following the competitions.

We would like to thank the many parents and volunteers that helped us present our first boys meet to the community in such a quality fashion. Many many thanks to all!

10/14/2003 - Boys State Clinic
Great Northern hosted over 100 boys from 13 Minnesota Clubs at the Boys State Clinic October 4-5. Coaches attended seminars including one from U of M assistant coach Kyle Zak, and former Olympian John Roethlisberger stopped in to talk to the boys between workouts. The weekend was a great success for all who attended!
Thanks to our State Director who organized the event, and all the coaches who helped out.
 
10/3/2003 - Adult Gymnastics Workout
A chance for adult gymnasts to come in and stay in shape, new gymnasts to learn some basics, do some trampolining for fun, or just some strength training to keep fit.
Come on in 7:00-9:00 Wednesday evenings! $10 per visit.

1 hour of supervised gym fun, and 1/2 hour in our party room for up to 10 guests - $119.00
